The status of Auburn star Johni Broome’s elbow was important to monitor coming into Saturday night’s Final Four matchup with the Florida Gators. Kentucky football delivered some tragic news on their Twitter page on Friday evening. The team announced the death of former UK standout Dean Wells. He was a three-year starter with the Wildcats, setting a single-game record with five sacks against Indiana. Eventually, he went on to have a nine-year career in the National Football League. After NFL retirement, he returned to his hometown of Louisville and was a huge supporter of the Wildcats. Wells was diagnosed with leukemia in 2023.

UCF transfer shooting guard Jaylin Sellers has officially committed to the Providence Friars, On3’s Joe Tipton reported on Friday evening. Sellers recently narrowed down his finalists in the portal to Cincinnati, Georgetown, Illinois, and Providence. Sellers only appeared in three games this past season due to injury after an impressive first year at UCF in 2023-24. He averaged 15.9 points and 3.6 rebounds per game while starting 32 out of 33 games a year ago.
