JOLIET, Ill./SEWARD, Neb./Kearney, Neb. — The William Penn men's track and field team took advantage of one final competition weekend as it battled at three separate meets last Friday and Saturday in hopes of expanding its nationals squad. WPU did indeed add more individuals to its travel roster with Andrew Miller (So., Le Claire, Iowa, Exercise Science), Xzavion West (Jr., Guthrie, Ky., Undecided), and the 4x800-meter relay team all hitting qualifying standards.

Men's track and field athlete Xzavion West (Jr., Guthrie, Ky., Undecided) was named the male recipient, while women's golfer Olivia Lange (Sr., Buckeburg, Germany, Business Management) earned the female honor. Oskaloosa–Xzavion West (Jr., Guthrie, Ky., Undecided) was rewarded for being the best field athlete during the outdoor league championship as the Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its top awards Monday. West was named the Heart Men’s Field Athlete of the Meet following a weekend where he scored 19 points over three events. The junior took the hammer throw crown at 193-9, while also placing third in the discus (155-0) and sixth in the shot put at 49-3.
