    HUNTINGTON — The West Virginia Department of Transportation is accepting bids to tear down and rebuild a bridge at the Cabell-Wayne County line on Adams Avenue in Huntington. Bidding ends July 22. The bridge, named after Colonel Justice Chambers, a Marine Corps officer who received the Medal of Honor for his actions during the Iwo Jima campaign in World War II, spans Fourpole Creek.

    Boyd County Community Development and Boyd County Schools are partnering to host a free “Longest Day of Play” event at the old Boyd County football field on Friday from 6:00-9:00 PM. “People should expect lots of fun,” said Kacy Abrams, Boyd County community development director. “It is my favorite event that we host and it is an absolute blast and the kiddos love it.”According to Abrams, many different activities are planned, including a foam party and other outdoor activities.
