    Demas Nwoko did not coin the term, ‘Natural Synthesis’. That was the illustrator, Uche Okeke. However, Nwoko, along with Okeke and several other artists affiliated with the Art Department of the Nigerian College of Art, Science and Technology, in Zaria—a movement eventually known as the ‘Zaria Art Society’ or the ‘Zaria Rebels’—pioneered the post-colonial art paradigm around the 1960s.

    Who was General Sani Abacha? Sani Abacha was born on 20 September 1943, in Kano State, Nigeria, to Kanuri parents. His early education was also in Kano. After independence, Abacha joined the Nigerian Military Training College in Kaduna. In 1963, he was commissioned as Second Lieutenant after he attended Mons Defense Officers’ Cadet Training College in Aldershot, England. He fought in the civil war, where he served as a platoon and battalion commander. By 1969, he had risen in rank to Major.
