Public crossings at Lower Granite Lock and Dam may experience delays of up to two hours from December 9 through December 21 due to the installation of a new trash raking crane. The winter crossing schedule runs from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, with closures on federal holidays unless announced otherwise. Tour and school buses must contact the dam at least 24 hours in advance by calling 509-843-1493 for crossing authorization.

WALLA WALLA - Born and raised only 30 miles away from the Walla Walla District headquarters, a young Dayton native never knew much about the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. It wasn’t until after college that Ryan Laughery, hydraulics engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, would come to realize the world of opportunities awaiting him one town over. Laughery earned his bachelor’s in civil engineering from Washington State University in December 2002.

Officials at Lower Monumental Lock and Dam will be closing public dam crossings October 28 through November 7 for crane removal and maintenance. During this period, all vehicular and pedestrian traffic across the dam will be suspended to ensure the safety of the public and work crews. USACE encourages travelers to plan alternative routes during this time. Normal crossing hours are once an hour, on the half-hour, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Normal crossing hours are once an hour, on the half-hour, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Public dam crossings are also available at Lower Granite Lock and Dam and Little Goose Lock and Dam.
