There are several known contributors to the poor mental health of LGBTQA + young people that exist outside of the individual [1, 3, 6]. While a necessary focus has been to identify those young people at greatest risk of mental health concerns and ensure that appropriate mental healthcare is available to them, an increased focus is needed on the prevention of mental health concerns in the first instance.
