Filipino American author Mike Talplacido is releasing his children’s book “Chasing New Yolk.”The book tells the story of Ashley Orpington, a young chick who grows up in a cardboard box with her twin sister in the town of Chickaville. Ashley’s life changes forever when she hears the song of a kind, mysterious Brown Giant, which ignites her passion for music and fuels her dream of moving to New Yolk City to become a singer.

Titled “We Cook Books,” the panel is slated for October 13, convened and moderated by Elizabeth Besa-Quirino. “We will tackle cookbook writing, how to get started, where to get ideas and inspiration, and share publishing advice from the authors,” says Besa Quirino. CHICAGO – Filipino American theater group Circa Pintig is hosting the first-ever Filipino American Theater Festival in the region from Oct 11 to 26. “This cultural extravaganza coincides with Filipino American History Month, showcasing the best of Filipino and Filipino American theater while emphasizing identity, heritage and social justice,” says artistic director RJ Silva. The festival will feature staged readings of 28 plays, by both established and emerging playwrights.
