    There was drama at the Chinhoyi Municipality council chambers today as councillors exchanged words, leading to the disruption of a full council meeting. This was after a break-in and theft of an estimated $18 000 from the director of finance's office. Councillor Vorster Mashevedzanwa (Ward 11) requested an update on the break-in that occurred early this morning and Mayor Owen Charuza, who was chairing the meeting, brushed it aside saying the matter was still under investigation.

    There is need to invest more in environmental research and development to promote sustainable economic growth, Minister Marian Chombo has said. Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Marian Chombo said research and development is key in reversing challenges such as climate change and biodiversity loss, among others. Speaking at belated Africa Environment Day commemorations in Chinhoyi, Minister Chombo said there is need for collaboration between the public and private sectors.

    Police have arrested Fugitive Zambian Member of Parliament for Petauke Central Emmanuel Jay Banda who escaped fromChipata General Hospital in August. Banda had allegedly been renting a flat in Harare before authorities picked up information about his whereabouts, leading tohis arrest on Tuesday. He is currently detained at a police station in Harare awaiting relevant legal procedures and possible extradition to Zambia.
