Published 4:45 pm Tuesday, May 6, 2025 MOULTRIE – Sixteen Colquitt County athletes signed letters of intent on Monday raising the number of Packers and Lady Packers who will compete at the next level next season to 27. The group included three baseball players, two divers, five flag football players, two football players and one member each of the soccer, volleyball and wrestling teams. “They’ve been an outstanding group to watch,” said Colquitt County athletic director Cleve Edwards.

Published 9:36 am Tuesday, May 6, 2025 MOULTRIE – The three Colquitt County entries in last Saturday’s GHSA Bass Fishing State Championships had high hopes of securing a berth in in the high school nationals. But the weather changed drastically late Friday night and early Saturday at Lake Lanier in Gainesville and the Packer bass fishermen could not recover. “We had two of the best practices we ever had,” said coach Will Stuckey of his team’s success on the lake the previous days.

Published 9:32 am Tuesday, May 6, 2025 MOULTRIE – Colquitt County’s Bryce Toomer and Ja’Shar Kinsey have qualified for the Class 6A state track meet. Toomer will represent the Packers in both the discus and shot put events and Kinsey will compete in the high jump in the state meet, which will be held May 9-10 at Carrollton High School. The two seniors qualified in the May 3 Class 6A Sectional A held at Westlake High School in Atlanta.

Five pitchers that first-year coach Ryan Strickland expected to anchor his staff wound up unable to make any significant contributions. And, late in the season with the playoffs approaching, the Packers had to deal with the tragic death of one of their admired former teammates.

Published 12:50 pm Thursday, May 1, 2025 MOULTRIE – Despite a couple of coaches being unable to take part, the Colquitt County football team had an enthusiastic first day of spring practice on Tuesday at the high school. The Packers, who won their third-straight region championship last season, will be out to improve on an 8-4 record when the 2025 season starts Aug. 15 against Benedictine Military School in the Hawg Pen.
