1. IntroductionSeismic damage experiences reveal that buildings experience not only horizontal and vertical vibrations during earthquakes but also torsional vibrations [1]. Investigations have shown that torsional response during an earthquake significantly degrades seismic performance, leading to component failure [2] and structural damage or even collapse [3].
