When it’s simply the four of us, there’s magic. None of us could’ve ever predicted the sweet recipe of tender allegiance back in Amsterdam, all those years ago. Our annual trips have forged into a beautiful tradition, soaked in both laughter and tears. Like morning glory flowers blossomed in violet, epitomizing affection and love. When it’s the four of us, there’s always rejuvenated hope.

Some friends come and go. Some remain for a lifetime. Some stay long enough to last from one train station to the next, if life was a metro line. Or the yellow ligne un, stretching from La Défense to Château de Vincennes, with a crowded stop at Franklin Roosevelt, right in front of Arc de Triomphe. Some friends come and go, then come back again. As we strolled by the gigantic arc, meandering from one starry restaurant to a stylish concept store: Kith Paris. We didn’t mean to come here.

Mala spicy hot pot isn’t simply a type of food, it’s part of Taiwanese culture. Mala isn’t spicy, but so much more. In Mandarin, “ma” means numb, while “la” is spicy. The blend of two equates to the numbing effect from Sichuan peppercorns and the spiciness from chilies utilized in the broths for spicy hot pot. Hot pot restaurants are prevalent throughout Taiwan, with new brands opening around the corner every month.

Inventive gastronomy. Freshness, lightness. In Paris’ 16th arrondissement is the Michelin-starred restaurant, Astrance, led by renowned chef Pascal Barbot and Christophe Rohat, the restaurant’s funny and kind manager presenting artful dishes at the tables. Unlike most restaurants of parallel caliber, Astrance’s ambiance is sleek yet unpretentious. Perfect for business meals and neighbors sitting down for a few hours of elegant food and wine.

STAY: @sixsenseskaplankaya in Bodrum features the biggest #spa in #Europe. There’s kumbucha as guests check in and green juice during breakfast. I want to live in this wellness resort so I can detox forever!! 🧖🏻♀️🇹🇷 #turkey #travel #summer https://t.co/PH0BhhvOBj

DO: Turkish Bath or hammam. The one at @cvkparkbosphorus is the most beautiful I’ve ever experienced. The hot steam boosts the immune system by dilating blood vessels & increasing circulation in the body, opening pores so toxins can be released.🧖🏻♀️🇹🇷 #travel #spa #turkey #istanbul https://t.co/JnYHbBW5Ys

SEE: Rüstem Pasha #Mosque was my favorite the Iznik tiling inside are both floral and geometric, combined with the luscious blue carpeting; the entire visiting experience was breathtaking, peaceful and beautifully inspiring. #istanbul #turkey #travel https://t.co/yOTloBDKym
