The East Side Baseball Association is asking the Cobb Board of Commissioners to donate more than $207,000 for an improvement project at Fullers Park, where the youth baseball organization plays. According to an agenda item for Tuesday’s meeting, East Side is requesting to donate $207,482.52 for a 2011 SPLOST (Special-Purpose Local-Option Sales Tax) project that includes replacing natural grass fields to synthetic turf.

Fourteen recent high school graduates from East Cobb have been named recipients of National Merit Scholarships that are given out by the university or college of the student’s choice. The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced more than 2,000 recipients nationwide this week, and they are awards that provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study.
