On a party-line vote Tuesday, the Cobb Board of Commissioners approved spending $108,000 for the MUST Ministries summer cooling center. The vote was 3-2, with Democrats in favor and Republicans opposed. The item was on the board’s consent agenda, but was moved to the regular agenda for the purposes of having a discussion. GOP commissioners JoAnn Birrell and Keli Gambrill said they weren’t opposed to the cooling center, but said the county shouldn’t be funding charities.

East Cobb will be getting a Einstein Bros. Bagel location soon. Renovations are getting underway at a space at Providence Square Shopping Center (4101 Roswell Road, Suite 801), between Sprouts and Mattress Firm. The store’s website says it’s open, but when we went by on Monday, there was only a branded “coming soon” sign and the start of filling out of the interior. East Cobb News has left a message with Einstein Bros. seeking more information about the opening. This will be the second Einstein Bros.
