The difluorobenzylic group not only can enhance the bioavailability, metabolic stability, and lipid solubility of compounds but also serve as an isostere of aryl ethers and aryl ketones that are susceptible to metabolic oxidation, which have become an important component of biologically active molecules. (1) In view of the crucial role played by the difluorobenzylic group, a number of methodologies have been developed for the incorporation of this group.
