1 Introduction Stroke is globally the second most prevalent cause of death and the third contributor to both mortality and disability (Potter, Tannous, and Vahidy 2022; Kuriakose and Xiao 2020; Mosconi and Paciaroni 2022). Around 15 million people worldwide experience stroke annually, and nearly 6 million people die of it (Asgedom et al. 2020). One in every six individuals is at risk of a stroke (Asgedom et al. 2020). Moreover, strokes have a significant economic impact.
