Did I just hear… what I think I heard? Them boys from Oklahoma, affectionately known as Cross Canadian Ragweed, officially reunited earlier this year for a run of four sold out shows at Oklahoma State’s Boone Pickens Stadium. For red dirt country fans, this was their Eagles, their Blink 182, their Oasis… the comeback of all comebacks, and the fans showed up BIG time. For context, their final show, way back in 2010, was at Chicago’s Joe’s Bar… where the Whiskey Riff boys spent many a drunken night.

Good Lord, Gavin…It’s no secret that California is a bit of a disaster right now, whether it’s rampant homelessness, crime, the massive state budget deficit, wildfire management, and now, people rioting in Los Angeles, the track record is far from impressive. And it’s a shame because California is a beautiful state… I’ve probably been there close to ten times, always a have a great time… food scene is good, weather is phenomenal, people are generally pretty chill… it’s fun for a few days.

Gotta love a suggestive country song about Willies, right? Tyler Childers unreleased “Waylon On My Willie” is another cheeky one that’s worth a listen to as well, although a bit more direct, but this hidden gem from Eric Church has become a fan favorite over the years. Titled “Leave My Willie Alone” eventually became a bonus track on Eric Church’s 2009 sophomore album Carolina, but prior to that, Eric played the song quite a bit in his live show.
