Plan for triple-digit heat index levels at times through next week. High temperatures will soar into the 90s, with heat index levels ranging from 98º to 108º. The heat is right on time as summer officially arrives at 9:42 PM this evening.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - THE NEXT 24 HOURS: The rain is ending for the day. We will have another warm and humid evening with breaks in the clouds. Plan for early morning low clouds and patchy dense fog for our Friday morning, with lows in the 70s. We still could see a few isolated showers and storms tomorrow, especially in areas to the southwest. In fact, some new guidance suggests a possible storm near a stalled boundary to our southwest Friday morning.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - THE NEXT 24 HOURS: A Flash Flood Warning was issued for Jefferson, St. Clair, and Shelby counties due to a slow-moving storm Wednesday afternoon. The risk for scattered storms will continue through this evening, especially for areas that have seen little rain so far today. Storms will be capable of producing some intense cloud to ground lightning, with locally heavy rainfall.

This is where we see numerous scattered downpours and storms popping up. The chance for storms will continue through the evening hours, gradually diminishing by midnight. There may be a strong to severe storm, with gusty winds, hail and intense cloud to ground lightning. Lows tonight will be near 70º.
