The Pivot Shuttle LT debuted in 2022 as the longest travel electric mountain bike from the Arizona-based brand. Essentially an electrified version of the Firebird, the original Shuttle LT featured a Shimano EP8 motor and a custom 756Wh battery for racking up as many laps at the bikepark as your body could handle.

The current production Pivot Phoenix was released in 2019, giving it a solid run of five years in the market. As of last year however, some curious prototype frames started appearing amongst the Pivot Factory Racing team. These futuristic-looking frames made use of a new in-house construction technique where CNC machined alloy lugs are bonded to custom-made carbon fibre tubes, all of which happens inside Pivot’s HQ in Phoenix, Arizona.

It was barely a year ago when the current Orbea Wild was launched, though already we have a new version for 2025. The Santa Cruz Vala is the newest electric mountain bike to come from the Californian trendsetters. Replacing the outgoing Heckler, the Vala does so with a brand new full carbon frame that looks nothing like its predecessor. Yes, the iconic and low-slung VPP suspension design is gone! In its place is a much more traditional four-bar platform that boasts numerous performance and packaging benefits. On top of that, the Vala also incorporates the newly released Bosch CX Gen 5 motor.
