The first day of the 2025 NFL draft is scheduled for April 24, with 17 prospects planning on attending the event in Green Bay, Wisconsin. FAIRFIELD - The 2025 high school softball season began with the same two teams that wrapped up the 2024 season. About 10 months removed from the 10-inning Class LL championship game last year which saw Fairfield Ludlowe emerge as back-to-back state champions over the Rams, this season kicked off with No. 2 Cheshire avenging that loss with a 4-2 victory on Saturday on the road. Bragging rights were earned when two brothers from New Fairfield faced off against each other during Tuesday's baseball game between UConn and Quinnipiac. UConn senior Matthew Garbowski, who was a 2021 CHSCA All-State selection, was catching Tuesday's game in Storrs. In the other dugout was his younger brother Kyle, who was a GameTimeCT All-State selection in 2023. Kyle, a sophomore first baseman for Quinnipiac, was batting at the top of the order and was hit by a 1-1 pitch to lead off the game.
