The world is a different place than when we last saw Paddington in 2017. And yet, it’s not. Trump is in office. The world is in constant despair. Every day feels worse than the last. When it comes to modern-day “nepo babies,” Cazzie David is, at the very least, an interesting one. Or, at least, she is to me. The daughter of Larry David, best known for Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm, Ms. David is comedy royalty, and she can often be quite funny as a person and writer. Rami Malek stars in The Amateur, a routine spy thriller that bungles the potential of a different kind of secret agent man. When it comes to autistic representation in film, especially as an autistic person, you can expect a few things: Stiffness, fast talking, an almost subhuman-level awareness of specific interests, and an inability to understand humans, sometimes to comically absurd lengths. There’s also a robotic demeanor that can typically make us feel subhuman.
