Low-speed vehicles, which are not to be confused with golf carts, are becoming more popular on the Treasure Coast. Police said complaints have come in regarding the improper use of the vehicles. Low-speed vehicle and golf cart operators shared a variety of reasons behind why they enjoy using their respective vehicles. At Riverland Paseo Park in Port St. Lucie, Judy Slason sat in the driver’s seat as husband Kevin Slason rode shotgun. Perched in between was Sandy, their friendly pooch.

FORT PIERCE – Two juveniles were injured following a June 23 crash in the area of Oleander Avenue and West Weatherbee Road, according to Fort Pierce police. Police went to the scene at 1:36 p.m. and reported the crash involved a pickup and a compact car, Juliana Walker, police spokesperson, said via text. The crash caused a closure at the Oleander Avenue and West Weatherbee Road intersection, police stated. Further, westbound West Weatherbee Road at U.S. 1 was blocked.

The girl was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach. Police about 7:40 p.m. June 21 went to South Causeway Park for the incident, Juliana Walker, police spokesperson, stated June 23 via text. Walker stated St. Lucie County Fire District crews already were there as officers arrived “and were able to get a pulse on the toddler,” identified as a 1-year-old girl.

PORT ST. LUCIE − A 23-year-old woman died following a June 21 rollover crash on Southeast Port St. Lucie Boulevard, according to Port St. Lucie Police on June 23. Jennifer Hadley, of Port St. Lucie, died after being flown to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce after the crash, which involved two vehicles, police stated. Police about 8:07 p.m. went to the incident, which happened west of U.S. 1 in the area of Southeast Port St. Lucie Boulevard and Southeast Veterans Memorial Parkway.
