Morning and welcome to the new subscribers. This newsletter will be a bit different and I would be interested in your thoughts so feel free to comment. Last week the Welsh Government announced their “priorities for culture” and it fell so short of what is needed I felt compelled to put something together on it. However, it is very easy as a journalist to crap on everything. I therefore want to also try and set out how we can actually make things better.

Hello,First things first, welcome to the 300 people who signed up in the last week. You most likely were either lured in by my Guardian column looking at second homes in Wales or because of my reporting on the “car crash” Welsh Tory conference. Or you are the old bloke I got chatting to in Glanusk Services on the A40 while I ate a gammon, egg and chips. Whether it was homes, Tories or gammon that brought you here, thanks for joining.

Indeed, these publications are correct: the changes have led to something of an exodus of some second-home owners. What the titles seem to have missed, however, was that this was the point.

Hi Iain, It’s great to see your dedication to your party Especially as just two months ago, you were the Chairman of the Brecon, Radnor and Cwmtawe Conservative Association and an elected Tory councillor.

@WillHayCardiff The more people who see efforts made to ‘stop @reformparty_uk’ the more people are turning to us. They have had enough of being told who they ‘must support’, the more misinformation they are fed about the state of our Country, and the more the other parties lie to us, the more
