The Tigers competed at the hallowed Hayward Field on the University of Oregon’s campus May 29-31, with both programs coming away from the experience with some program history and even a state champion in their midst.

    Siuslaw's track and field teams hit the ground running at the Special District 1 Championships on May 22-23. As a result of the Vikings' speed, strength, and precision, 19 athletes from the program represented Siuslaw at the OSAA State Track & Field Championships this past weekend.     The Newport Marathon is coming up at the start of June, and hundreds of athletes will be running from Yaquina Bay State Park, along the Yaquina Bay Road almost all the way to Toledo. The event will be on June 1 and includes a walking, half, and full marathon. With about 1,000 participants flocking to Newport for the race, the day of the race may see the streets of Newport and Yaquina Bay Road a little more crowded than usual. One of the unexpected elements of the season was a change in head coach. After starting the season with Brian Riggs at the helm, assistant coach Amanda Richards stepped up midseason to the main gig in an interim capacity.
