Charlotte FC announced that winger/attacking midfielder Wilfried Zaha has joined the club on loan from Turkish club Galatasaray. Zaha will occupy one of the club’s Designated Player spots, as he looks to reclaim the form he had for English Premier League side Crystal Palace. He scored 90 of his 106 goals for Crystal Palace, joining the Eagles in their academy as young as age eight.

The Charlotte Hornets began Training Camp this week in Durham on the hopes that a new GM & Head Coach can turn the recent losing tide around. As the Hornets met the media on Monday before heading to Duke University for four days in Durham, players and coaches talked about the new and reimagined Charlotte franchise. Head Coach Charles Lee said from the start that the team will be built on defense.

Charlotte FC will open its third season of Major League Soccer at Bank of America Stadium on Saturday, February 24th facing New York City FC. Major League Soccer released its schedule Wednesday afternoon featuring two new trips for Charlotte, along with two new Western Conference opponents. Charlotte hosted Austin FC & the Vancouver Whitecaps in their inaugural seasons, and will now play return matches on the road at both venues.

New Charlotte FC Head Coach Dean Smith met the Charlotte media for the first time Monday at Atrium Health Performance Park offering his desire to impart a sense of newness for the Queen City’s MLS club. Smith spoke about his initial impressions of Charlotte FC, dating back to attending his first match in Charlotte FC’s 2-0 win over New York Red Bulls in 2022, and said the game provided a “warmth that never left” him.
