America’s public lands belong to the public, and all of us anglers, outdoorsmen, and conservationists have to defend these public resources….once again. The Republican majority led U.S. Congress with support from President Trump is currently proposing the sale of 500,000 acres of public lands in Nevada and Utah as a way to find budgetary windfalls. This should not be a partisan issue; outdoor recreation and conservation is one the surviving areas of strong bipartisan support, but here we are.

The fourth largest estuary in the United States, Mobile Bay, supports a productive and diverse ecosystem that can only be described as a hidden fishing gem. But Mobile Bay is also home to the Port of Mobile–Alabama’s only deepwater port–making it a center of international shipping and cruise industries. For decades, infrastructure projects, mainly dredging, have threatened Mobile Bay’s ecosystem.

This past weekend, residents of Fromberg and the surrounding area met with representatives from Preserve Montana regarding the future preservation of the old schoolhouse located in the town. The intention of the meeting was to start a discussion about how funding can be raised to restore the over a century old school house, as well as to provide residents with technical advice on how the building can be restored and be considered “period appropriate”.

The 2024/25 Red Lodge Mountain ski season approaches the end amidst variable weather and a multitude of events to close out the season. Filled with changes, tragedy and triumphs, the Red Lodge Mountain ski season will officially end on Easter Sunday, April 20. The past couple weeks have hosted a number of interesting events with a few more in store to cap off the season.
