Will Ziebell visited Bright Brewery for their annual Darker Days festival and, while in the High Country town, sat down with their national business development and brand manager Evin Craney for an episode of The Crafty Pint Podcast. Evin joined the brewery six years ago following a career in sales that saw him move from bottleshop retail to a repping for number of Victorian breweries, and has since become chair of the Independent Brewers Association (IBA).

There's set to be further consolidation in the local beer worldwith UK-based Powder Monkey Group - which already operates Southern Highlands Brewing and Willie The Boatman - revealing plans to buy Sydney brewing companies Akasha and Wayward. The latter pair only announced a merger in April, with Dave Padden from Akasha and Pete Philip from Wayward saying at the time that they were seeking further investment and intended to bring together a wider mix of brands.

English style beers can be quiet achievers in the Australian craft beer landscape. They don't have the flashiness of a hazy or the pure joy or extreme prejudice brought by a smoothie sour. They're just quietly being enjoyed by their fans while brewers focus their attention on perfecting their mild, bitter, or brown ale (we've previously explored how there seems to be a growing number of both too).
