The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct gave us a ton of info on the console's hardware and upcoming games like Mario Kart World, but also highlighted several Switch games getting Switch 2 Editions. A few of these titles shown off include Tears of the Kingdom, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond which will all be getting upgrades and some new features when the Switch 2 launches on June 5.

Like every Nintendo enthusiast, I've had a long time to reflect on what I want from the Switch 2. It's been a long eight years to get to Wednesday's grand unveiling, so I've built up a wish list of features I'm hoping the console has at this point. Some of those are obvious ones that I've been clamoring for ever since the original Switch launched in 2017. Naturally I hope to see a more powerful system capable of outputting video in 4K. Don't we all?

Considering that a big Nintendo Switch 2 stream is coming next week, I can't imagine that anyone saw today's surprise Nintendo Direct coming. Rather than saving all its big announcements for April 2, Nintendo held one last minute showcase focused entirely on upcoming Nintendo Switch games. I assumed that would be a moment to fill out the system's next few months, giving players something to do until the Switch 2 launches. That wasn't the case.
