    SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — Hurricane Ernesto charged toward Bermuda on Friday as officials in the tiny British territory in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean prepared to open shelters and close government offices. The Category 2 storm was located 215 miles (345 kilometers) south-southwest of Bermuda. It had maximum sustained winds of 100 mph (155 kph) and was moving north-northeast at 14 mph (22 kph).

    Reports of sexual misconduct by Lawrence Nassar date back to the 1990s. (CN) — The Department of Justice announced Tuesday it has approved a settlement for 139 separate claims of sexual abuse at the hands of Lawrence Nassar, formerly the team doctor for the U.S. women's national gymnastics team. The settlement will distribute a total of $138.7 million to the 139 claimants, according to the Justice Department.
