    The driver of an off-road vehicle was seriously injured and faces charges after a crash north of Kingston, Ont. Tuesday. Ontario Provincial Police say they responded to a utility-terrain vehicle (UTV) crash on South Road in North Frontenac Township where they found the driver pinned underneath the machine. Firefighters on scene were able to lift the vehicle to free its operator. The driver was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

    A flood watch has been issued for areas along the Ottawa River, warning of the possibility of minor flooding between Pembroke and Britannia Beach this week. A news release from Ontario’s Ministry of Natural Resources issued Tuesday says flooding in low-lying areas “can be expected” and areas currently experiencing high water levels or flooding can expect those conditions to continue.

    The union representing graduate teacher’s assistants at Queen’s University says it reached a deal with the institution, ending a weeks-long strike. The Public Service Alliance and Canada Local 901 went on strike March 10, calling for wage increases, childcare support and other protections. The union represents 2,000 graduate students who are employed as TA’s, fellows and research assistants. In a news release Tuesday, the union said it reached and accepted a three-year agreement with Queen’s.

    A cyclist suffered serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle in the Mooney’s Bay area Monday afternoon. An Ottawa Paramedic Service spokesperson says they responded to the intersection of Riverside Drive and Walkley Road shortly before 2 p.m.A 67-year-old man was taken to a trauma centre in serious but stable condition, paramedics say. Police are on scene directing traffic in the area. More to come…
