1. IntroductionThis paper addresses a fundamental issue in algorithm design, of both theoretical and practical interest: how to cope with unavoidable imprecision in data. We focus on a class of problems associated with location uncertainty arising from the motion of independent entities when location queries to reduce uncertainty are expensive. For concreteness, imagine a collection of robots following unpredictable trajectories with bounded speed.
