A new report claims that Apple is working on how to have its devices share Wi-Fi login details on commercial or captive networks. Since iOS 11 and macOS High Sierra in 2017, Apple has made it so that devices can share passwords. It's also possible for two separate users to share passwords this way, with one iPhone prompting the user to send the details to the other. However, this concept has never worked on commercial or captive networks.

Sao Paulo media claims that reports of iPhone manufacturer Foxconn expanding in Brazil is correct, even though Apple has said it will not increase production, and isn't trying to beat US tariffs. For years, Apple has been working to reduce its over-reliance on China as a single or major source of iPhones, and those moves have seen its suppliers establish facilities in several other countries.

Apple has been quietly buying AI firms whose work suggests the company is looking to bring Apple Intelligence to chatbots, individual users' calendars, and perhaps to its own manufacturing. News of Apple acquiring a company usually only breaks if Apple decides to announce it — as it did withPrimephonic, the basis for Apple Music Classical — or if the size of the deal requires regulatory oversight. Much more often, it acquires very many firms and absorbs their products and staff.

It's time to look back at the legendary iMac on its 27th birthday, but also time to look ahead to rumors of a future shakeup over iPhone launches — and the present day shakeup in the App Store, on the AppleInsider podcast. Without the iMac in 1998, there wouldn't be an Apple today — and there probably wouldn't have been an Apple even in 1999. So much depended on that little machine, and so many of us have relished it and its later versions over nearly three decades now.

Ex-Apple design head Jony Ive has spoken at the Stripe Sessions 2025 conference about his career going from the UK to Silicon Valley, and from Apple to his own firm, LoveFrom. Jony Ive has been making more public appearances lately, certainly compared to his more private time when he was in Apple and tended to speak just on launch videos. Usually, too, he speaks about his friend Steve Jobs and the way the two of them worked together.
