Select board member Peter Piekarski said he would first like to have the firms come before the board to provide an outline of their process. He said firms he talked with during the finance director search said they could do so.

He replaces Jeffrey Handler, who made it clear at the board’s May 27 meeting that he would not accept nominations to be the next chair, vice chair or clerk. “June 2 will be my last day as chair,” Handler said at that session.

GALVIN PHOTO HARWICH – The conservation commission has altered its original position on whether stairs to the beach at 23 Walther Rd. can be constructed on the town-owned property under its jurisdiction. The commission agreed last week to follow a second legal opinion issued by town counsel concluding that the stairs could be rebuilt.
