MOREHEAD Teams taking the diamond are no strangers to the concept of being down to their final strike. On Saturday, Rowan County was one strike away on three different occasions in the seventh inning from seeing its season end during the 16th Region championship game against Ashland. But the Vikings kept fighting. Trailing 4-2, Diamond Wills and Malana Hamm both hit singles with two outs and two strikes on the board.

The way she stepped up this postseason, in so many ways, in the circle and at the plate.”The name fits Perkins like a glove. The junior standout has commanded both the circle and the batter’s box for the Vikings in the 16th Region Tournament.
