A picture of the slur, presumably taken by the unnamed student, was posted on Facebook by Tulani Jackson, who said the student is a friend’s daughter.

    The Auburn Police Department took 18-year-old Taylor Colbert—a student at Southern Union Community College—into custody on Jan. 14 on charges of aggravated cruelty to animals. Colbert voluntarily turned herself into Auburn Police and was subsequently taken to the Lee County Jail and held on a $5,000 bond. The arrest follows an investigation into a complaint received on Jan. 5, 2025, regarding a deceased household pet at an apartment building on Opelika Road.

    St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church in downtown Auburn had their pride flag stolen on October 17th, marking at least the third such theft in recent years. Despite this, the church’s community remains resolved to continue displaying the flag and promoting inclusivity. St. Dunstan’s is on Magnolia Street amid the busy restaurants, bars, and businesses downtown. The Church is set back from the street, and its distinctive architecture and relaxed lawn differentiate it from its surroundings.

    On Monday, Oct. 21, Auburn University and faculty members James Goldstein and Lawrence Teeter filed an answer to a pending lawsuit brought against them by Joseph Majdalani, a professor in the university’s aerospace engineering department. In their answer, the university and the related defendants denied the most relevant charges. The lawsuit remains pending and unanswered by an additional five defendants, most of whom are Auburn University administrators.
