El trastorno depresivo mayor (MDD, por sus siglas en inglés) tratado de manera incompleta representa una enorme carga para la salud mundial. El tratamiento convencional para MDD consiste en farmacoterapia y psicoterapia, aunque un número significativo de pacientes no logra la remisión con dichos tratamientos.
