A wildfire in Biebrza National Park, north-eastern Poland, has covered 450 hectares since breaking out, the Ministry of the Interior said on 21 April, as emergency crews continued attempts to bring the blaze under control using helicopters and an aeroplane. The response involves 240 firefighters, 100 Territorial Defence Force soldiers, and staff from the forestry service and the park itself. The fire was first reported on the afternoon of 20 April, though the cause remains unknown.

Europe must not only enter but also win the arms race against Russia, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on March 6. Tusk and other European leaders are in Brussels for an emergency summit to discuss a new defence strategy for the European Union at what is seen as a pivotal moment for the bloc's security. The summit follows US President Donald Trump’s move to pressure Ukraine into negotiations with Moscow by withholding military and intelligence support.

Diagnostyka, Poland’s largest medical diagnostics provider, set a maximum share price of PLN105 (€24.7) for its initial public offering (IPO), targeting proceeds of up to PLN1.7bn, the company said on January 22. The offering will consist of just over 16.1mn existing shares owned by LX Beta, a subsidiary of MidEuropa III Management Limited, a management fund. The sale represents LX Beta’s entire 47.83% stake in Diagnostyka.

Poland will guarantee Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “free and secure access and participation” in the planned commemoration event marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the former Nazi death camp in Auschwitz despite an International Criminal Court arrest warrant, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on January 9. The event – at which Netanyahu has yet to confirm his attendance – will take place on January 27 and is expected to gather leaders from many countries.

Poland's PM Tusk just said he'd cooperate w/ new president Nawrocki "where necessary and possible." But, he added, if the president doesn't cooperate, the govt will push forward over his head. (Not sure how you can circumvent president tho - decrees aren't really a thing here.)
