South Korea’s steel exports to the United States rose nearly 15 percent in April from a year ago despite tariffs imposed by the Trump administration, data showed on Thursday. According to data released by the Korea Iron & Steel Association, the country’s steel exports to the U.S. stood at 237,774 tons in April, up 14.9 percent from the same month a year ago. Shipments to the U.S. had declined 13.9 percent on year in March.

South Korea’s steel giant POSCO Holdings Inc. and LG Chem Ltd. announced on Wednesday that they will develop carbon capture and utilization (CCU) technologies with the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology (KRICT). The consortium aims to participate in a CCU project led by the Ministry of Science and ICT, which supports innovation to reduce carbon emissions by converting captured carbon dioxide into valuable resources.
