This is the first year that many Irish companies are affected by the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting (CSR) directive. Apart from requiring companies to report any social or environmental programmes they may (or may not) operate, it doesn’t actually oblige them to do anything else. But it is still a valuable activity for most companies, and forces them to think about what they are doing to improve their social and environmental impact on the planet. It also has other, less obvious, benefits.
