The Spartans (1-3) struggled on both ends of the court early on, giving up nine unanswered points by way of three consecutive 3-pointers. Battle went scoreless until midway through the first quarter, trailing 16-10 at the end of the opening period.

Stephens basketball was victorious at Silverthorne Arena for the first time in more than a month Saturday afternoon, picking up a 84-72 win over Crowley's Ridge and snapping a three-game losing streak in the process. The Stars (3-5, 1-3 American Midwest Conference) opened the game with strong shooting, improving on the offensive struggles they faced Wednesday against Williams Baptist.
