I believe in the Sixth Amendment. I believe people deserve a fair trial — especially when they’re accused of murder. But "A Body in the Snow: The Trial of Karen Read," now streaming on Max, made me question how that’s even possible when the criminal justice system is this broken. The three-part docuseries follows the 2024 trial of Karen Read, who was accused of killing her boyfriend, Boston police officer John O’Keefe, by backing into him with her SUV and leaving him to die in the snow.

Let’s get this out of the way first: Yes, the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” TV show is objectively better than its 1992 film predecessor in every way. However, the movie hardly deserved the hate it got when it was released and continues to receive today. First and foremost, the “Buffy” movie isn’t meant to be taken seriously. At its core, it’s a goofy satire — and it’s not trying to be anything else.

Online dating can be a challenging, albeit awkward process. Add to the mix a creepy stalker who's blowing up your phone and demanding you murder the person you're on said date with, and you've got a real recipe for disaster. The recently debuted thriller, Drop, is that kind of terrifying for Violet (Meghann Fahy) and her date, Henry (Brandon Sklenar), a pretty chill guy who somehow sticks it out for the most erratic first dinner date of all time. Truth be told?

Despite its name, Netflix’s new medical drama “Pulse” was dead on arrival. Time of death: 10 minutes into the show. Given how inundated television is with medical dramas, there needs to be some kind of hook to make a new one stand out against the competition. To boot, if audiences don’t care about the characters, everything else flatlines. I wanted to enjoy “Pulse,” but I was almost immediately bored. I’m a very character-driven person when it comes to TV, especially procedurals.

Why does every single TV show have to try to find a way to awkwardly attempt a noir/black and white episode and why are they always some of the worst eps in any given series? Please stop this trope. I understand the impulse to experiment with styles, but it's so forced and bad.
