1 Introduction There is a growing interest in connecting energy and climate modeling to address the global challenges of climate change and energy security (Craig et al., 2022). Climate change is poised to significantly affect climate-exposed energy supply and demand, and poses significant challenges to climate-sensitive energy system planning and design (Schaeffer et al., 2012; Taseska et al., 2012; van Ruijven et al., 2019; Yalew et al., 2020).
