Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are porous crystalline materials that are potential alternatives to traditional materials in applications, such as gas separation, storage, and catalysis. MOFs consist of inorganic metal ions or clusters connected to organic ligands through coordination bonds, forming highly porous crystalline structures. MOFs can be tuned to have a wide range of surface areas, pore sizes, and chemical functionality.
