The court awarded N10 million as compensation for the unlawful arrest and another N10 million in general damages for the inhumane treatment and reputational harm suffered by Mr Maisamari. The Federal High Court in Kaduna has awarded N20 million in damages to Awemi Maisamari, the President of the Adara Development Association (ADA), over his arrest and prolonged detention under the administration of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

A month after the Nigerian military dislodged and killed many of its members in Kwara State, a new terror group, Mahmuda, has resurfaced, attacking civilians and destroying local infrastructure and farms. A lawmaker, who described the attack as inhumane, urged the military to seize the local government area from the grip of the Boko Haram insurgents. At least nine travellers have been reported dead in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack at a bus stop in Mairari village, Guzamala Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno State. According to Daily Trust, Abdulkarim Lawan, the Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, provided details of the explosion.
