The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Matthew Kukah, has called on President Bola Tinubu to end the cycle of violence threatening peace and stability in Nigeria. Mr Kukah expressed his frustrations in an Easter statement addressed to the president and made available to PREMIUM TIMES. Symbolising the present situation of Nigerians with the holy Cross, Mr Kukah said many innocent people are being crucified. “A very happy Easter to you and millions of our countrymen and women,” he felicitated.

A video of a Chinese national and his family, who were seen giving money to Nigerian police officers, has generated reactions from Nigerians at home and in the diaspora. In the viral video, the Chinese national could be seen handing N5,000 each to a group of police officers dressed in mobile police (MOPOL) uniform. A woman and a young girl, believed to be members of his family, also did the same.

Despite the promise by the federal government to end the senseless killings and unrest in Plateau, violence continues unabated with attacks and reprisals. At least 40 people were killed and many others injured on Monday in a midnight attack on the Zike community in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The Presidency has withdrawn the list of appointees it released earlier today, saying there were errors. Sunday Dare, the special adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, made this known in a post on X. “We have noticed a number of errors in the list of appointments tweeted. We are sorry. We will provide an updated list later. Thank you,” he posted. Mr Dare had posted a list of 152 appointees with North-west having the largest number.

President Bola Tinubu has condemned the violent attack that claimed 52 lives in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, vowing that the assailants will face severe punishment. The president said this in a statement signed by his aide, Bayo Onanuga. PREMIUM TIMES reported that terrorists invaded six villages — Ruwi, Mangor, Daffo, Manguna, Hurti, and Tadai — in Bokkos LGA, killing and razing houses including foodstuffs.
