On May 16, the first four episodes of season three of “Bridgerton” were released, meeting excitement that had brewed amongst fans. Each season has focused on one Bridgerton child finding their love match while navigating the social season under the sharp eye of Lady Whistledown. Although season three has not yet been released in full, the season thus far has kept its excellent reputation from previous seasons, leaving high expectations for the remaining episodes of the latest season.

March 16 held an exciting performance from the La Jolla Symphony and Chorus as guest vocalist Andrea Zomorodian and new conductor Sameer Patel provided an engaging performance for us all. The show provided many firsts for the audience, including me. It was my first time hearing Nina Shekhar’s “Lumina,” experiencing the Patel’s conducting, and having Zomorodian perform for LJS&C. “Lumina” expanded my idea of what great music can be.

The French luxury fashion house that is Maison Margiela had yet another breathtaking show for Paris Fashion Week. John Galliano, the creative designer for Margiela, is known for his avant-garde designs and continued his incredible reputation with the Spring/Summer Artisanal collection. The show took place in an alley under the Pont Alexandre III next to an antique 1920s club during a foggy, drizzling night.

Greta Gerwig’s masterful adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s novel “Little Women” highlights the love triangle between three of the main characters, Amy, Jo, and Laurie. “Little Women” is set during the civil war and its aftermath, jumping back and forth as it tells the story of the March family, principally the four girls: Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy. Throughout the story, the sisters learn to deal with individuality, social expectations, and the main topic of discussion: love.

Kali Uchis started off 2024 strong with her new album “ORQUÍDEAS,” which was released on Jan. 12. This album was especially exciting because the last Spanish album she released was four years prior, leaving fans anxious for this drop. On my first listen, I noticed seamless transitions through songs, which I found impressive because I had to check if it was the same song.

On Nov. 4, the La Jolla Symphony and Chorus kicked off their 2023-24 season “Metamorphosis” with a six-piece show, including the iconic “Symphonic Dances” from “West Side Story.” As always, I went into this performance with no expectations, which helps me to experience every art piece with a fresh mind and without comparison to previous shows I have been to. After introductions, I sat in anticipation of the first performance.

On Friday, Oct. 20, the San Diego Ballet School had its opening night for Sleeping Beauty, which delivered everything one could anticipate from ballet. In ballet performances, aesthetics are everything — from the costumes, the set, and the movements of the dancers. The intricate costumes of each dancer were the first thing that caught my eye; every detail was taken into account as each bead and sequin seemed perfectly placed to shine just right in the light.
