BackgroundGlobally, stroke is a major contributor to disability and the second leading cause of death (1). In China, the prevalence of stroke continues its upward trajectory. According to a comprehensive study involving a sizeable and representative sample of adults aged 40 years or older, the estimated incidence, prevalence, and mortality rate of stroke in China in 2020 were 505.2 per 100000 person-years, 2.6%, and 343.4 per 100000 person-years, respectively (2).
