Manichaeism, founded by Mani (AD 216–277), is centered on a dualistic philosophy of light and darkness, integrating elements from Zoroastrianism, Christianity, Gnosticism, and Buddhism. It spread widely across the Old World.1 In the 18th–19th centuries, due to the scarcity of sources, research on Manichaeism primarily focused on how it was recorded in Christian and Islamic texts.
