1. IntroductionThe iron and steelmaking industry is one of the primary industries that have supported China’s rapid economic development over the past few decades, but it is also a typical CO2-intensive industry facing great challenges in achieving carbon neutrality targets. As the world’s largest crude steel producer and CO2 emitter, China produces 53% of global crude steel, and its iron and steelmaking industry is responsible for 15% of the country’s total carbon emissions [].

AbstractAs common pursuits of human society, subjective well-being (SWB) strongly depends on economic factors, and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) emphasize promoting equilibrium between socio-economic development and environmental conservation. Therefore, trade-offs between narrowing existing progress differences across SDGs and improving SWB might exist, which could interfere with global policy-making for human development but remain unexplored.
