Zhang et al. show that iodine helps to form corner-sharing lead-iodine species that improve stability, and that its subsequent decalation improves film quality. Solar cells made with these films had power conversion efficiencies greater than 24% and retained 99% of that efficiency after more than 1100 hours of operation at 85°C.
