1 INTRODUCTION Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality all over the world,1 and approximately accounts for one-third of all deaths.2 Despite a global decline in age-standardized CVD-specific mortality over the past 30 years, the largest number of deaths from CVD occurred in China, followed by India, Russia, and the United States.2 Therefore, appropriate interventions and disease management for patients with CVD are important to reduce the disease burden.
