    Dendy Cinema, which is owned by Hollywood A-lister Mel Gibson, has been slugged with a $19,800 fine for allegedly failing to display the total of movie tickets. The cinema chain paid the fine after it was issued an infringement notice by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). The consumer watchdog alleged Dendy Cinema had failed to prominently display the total ticket price customers had to pay, including all the unavoidable fees, until the final stages of a purchase.

    Three workers have been fined over footage of a pigeon being bashed with a golf club at a minesite in Western Australia. A 24-year-old man and two 30-year-old men have all pleaded guilty to animal cruelty over an incident while the trio were working at Pantoro Gold's Norseman Gold Project in June 2023. A Snapchat video showed the two older men holding up a pigeon before the younger man used a golf club to hit it, sending the bird flying for more than a metre.

    Sydneysiders could soon require a permit to leave their bins out on the kerb as part of a crackdown against bad waste behaviour. City of Sydney Councillor Adam Worling moved a motion at Monday's council meeting after he noticed dozens of bins left out on the footpath and street long after collection day.
