The 3D dataset was transformed into 2D telecentric and single-camera datasets at various distances from the swarm. Evaluating the machine learning framework’s performance at these distances (Fig. 6), the single-camera model closely matches the telecentric dataset as the camera moves farther from the object. For each distance, the tuned pipeline returns differing segment sizes and overlaps, which are also displayed. Classification performance of the 2D single-camera model as the distance varies.
